As the weeks continue of our new normal, different levels of fear can set in. I am so used to things being the way they were that I have a hard time changing to how things are now. Some days I feel adjusted and others I am so overwhelmed I can’t breathe. Today, I am choosing these characteristics above that I can do: be truthful, honorable, just, pure… Iovely and commendable I continue to strive for… the point is, when the doubt and fear creeps in, I hope I can remember to cling to these things in order to experience the peace of God by experiencing the God of peace. What are you thoughts today? Reflect on how you experience the God of peace.

“Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable- if there is any moral excellence and if there is praise – dwell in these things. Over the past few months I have felt quite overwhelmed with a sense of peace at times. Is that possible?!? I have no idea… but I have had a rush of overwhelming feelings, then later my soul is settled. As I have seen my friends, colleagues, and mentors sharing the Word of God across social media during this time of social distancing, it takes me back to the years from 4th grade to when I was a junior in college.

Every summer, I went to camp. I loved and still love our camp. I found Jesus at this camp. I learned what true friends mean at this camp. I understood what it meant to let God guide my life. I was challenged to provide understanding of brokenness and healing. It’s where I was prepared to have a foundation to handle the grown-up world I would be heading into. At camp, we sang this song that is based upon Isaiah 43. This song has been stuck in my head for the past few days… It’s all I hear!

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions…

Adulting… Not as easy as I once thought! Do you ever feel that you are able to adult with a sense of sound judgement? Some days I do, but others I’m like please don’t mess everything completely with this decision you are making. Kind of like choosing the lesser of two evils. I pray everyday that the decisions I make are of a grounded, sense of sound judgment. You know, 2 Timothy 1:7 states “For God has not given us a spirit of fearlessness, but one of power, love and sound judgement”. Shew, that kinda takes my breath away!

For those who know me personally, being speechless isn’t something that comes very often, but reading this scripture… there are many times I can’t breathe due to the decisions I am facing whether personal or business. I look to the scriptures to ground me in order to make each sound judgement. I feel such fear at times that I can’t breathe, so reading His Word allows me to remember how fear is a liar. As fear leaves, I can feel the power, love, then sound judgement for whatever decision I am making. Now, I am not saying that every decision I make is right on, but being who I am…. I do the best I can. I have learned how to accept that I am doing the best that I can. This in turn covers me in peace… He covers me with His peace.
